IF’s Lounge in Mbabane and Manzini has become the only nightlife venue in the country offering free transport to patrons, a move aimed at reducing drink-driving and improving public safety.
Owner Thulani Ntshangase said the initiative was introduced after growing concern over the rising number of drink-and-driving cases, many of which involve nightlife patrons.
“We are worried about the increasing number of drink-and-driving offenders. The painful reality is that many of them are our own clients, and we could not ignore that,” said Ntshangase.
He said management felt a responsibility to protect patrons as well as other road users.
“This is our way of giving back to the community. We want people to enjoy themselves and still arrive home alive,” he said.
Ntshangase confirmed that IF’s Lounge in Mbabane and Manzini are currently the only entertainment venues offering free transport services to customers.
“As far as we know, no other venue is doing this. We didn’t introduce it for publicity but because it was necessary,” he said.
The free shuttle service operates every weekend from 6pm to 8pm at both branches and covers a seven-kilometre radius. Patrons are required to organise themselves in groups of at least five people and contact the lounge for collection.

“We are using a seven-seater shuttle and planned the service based on demand and the areas where most of our patrons come from,” Ntshangase explained.
In Manzini, the shuttle operates around Ngwane Park, Matsapha and surrounding areas, while the Mbabane branch covers nearby neighbourhoods within the set radius.
Transport back home is also provided.
“Patrons can speak to the waiters and request transport. We group those heading in the same direction and arrange a return shuttle,” he said.
Ntshangase added that staff have been trained to manage transport requests efficiently to avoid delays and confusion.
“Our waiters communicate directly with the shuttle team, which helps the service run smoothly,” he said.
Feedback from patrons has been positive, with many appreciating the added sense of safety.
“People feel relieved knowing they don’t have to drive after drinking. Families are also more comfortable knowing their loved ones are safe,” he said.
Ntshangase said IF’s Lounge remains committed to the initiative.
“Safety comes first, and we will continue to make this work,” he said.
