Nsingizini ……………………………. 1 (1)

Rangers ………………………………. 0 (0)

SOCCER – Defending MTN Premier League champions Nsingizini Hotspurs marched on in style yesterday, pocketing a lucrative E120 000 incentive after edging sworn rivals Rangers 1–0 in a fiercely contested derby at King Sobhuza Stadium. It was a victory that delivered more than just three points – it reinforced supremacy, extended an impressive unbeaten run against their neighbours and kept their title defence firmly on course.

The much-anticipated clash lived up to its billing. Despite cold, drizzling weather, supporters turned out in numbers, braving the elements to back their beloved sides. From the opening whistle, it was clear Nsingizini meant business. They started on the front foot, dictating the tempo and pinning Rangers deep in their half.

The decisive moment arrived as early as the fifth minute. A defensive lapse from Rangers was ruthlessly punished by Yekisizwe ‘Madumane’ Khumalo, who calmly slotted home to send the Nsingizini faithful into raptures. It was a dream start for the champions and a nightmare for Rangers, who struggled to find their footing in the opening stanza.

Under the guidance of Mandla Qhoqi, Nsingizini played with confidence and cohesion, moving the ball with ease and forcing their opponents to chase shadows. Rangers appeared overwhelmed as Insingizi Yezulu controlled proceedings, creating the better chances and entering the halftime break deservedly ahead.

Nsingizini Hotspurs earned a E120 000 bonus after Yekisizwe Khumalo’s early strike sealed a 1–0 derby win over Rangers in the MTN Premier League.

The second half, however, told a different story. Rangers emerged with renewed purpose, showing greater composure on the ball and attempting to build attacks from deep.

Forward Hleliso Gamedze tried tirelessly to inspire a comeback, but Nsingizini’s disciplined defence remained compact and resolute, denying him the space he thrives on.

Both teams fashioned opportunities after the break. Ayanda Gadlela came close to doubling Nsingizini’s lead early in the half, but went down in the box under pressure. Rangers pushed forward in search of an equaliser, circulating the ball patiently and testing the champions’ resolve.

Their best chance came deep into stoppage time, only for goalkeeper Sibusiso ‘Bharaba’ Dlamini to produce a superb, match-saving stop that sealed the win.

The final whistle confirmed yet another derby triumph for Nsingizini, who have now denied Rangers’ victory in their last five meetings.

Next up, Insingizi Yezulu return home to face Mbabane Swallows, where they will look to extend their winning streak and keep their championship dream alive.

Once again, an early Yeki strike proved enough and Nsingizini celebrated loudly, proudly and deservedly.
