The Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) has applauded the ministry of education and training for the newly-built teachers’ houses in some Northern Hhohho schools.
Teachers’ houses have been built at Lugongodlwane Nazarene and Matfuntini Primary Schools under Mayiwane Inkhundla.
The schools are among the eight that were battered by the December storm, leaving them damaged.
On its Facebook platform, SNAT expressed appreciation to the ministry of education and Microprojects for the rehabilitation work carried out at the schools.
“The new houses were built by the ministry of education through Microprojects following a storm that ravaged the area. We thank the MoET for such decent lodgings for educators,” SNAT said.
Lugongodlwane Nazarene Primary Headteacher Colani Dlamini also welcomed the completion of the houses, saying the new structures would improve the welfare of teachers and contribute positively towards service delivery at the school.

“Our teachers will now have safe and decent accommodation, which is important for their wellbeing and peace of mind. When teachers are staying in proper houses, they are able to focus on their work and deliver quality education to learners without worrying about their living conditions,” he said.
Dlamini added that the new houses would help improve teachers’ morale and ensure stability at the school.
Meanwhile, Mayiwane Member of Parliament Sicelo Dlamini commended government for responding swiftly after the storms damaged infrastructure in the area.
“We appreciate government for acting quickly to rehabilitate the affected schools. The ministry worked collaboratively with Microprojects to ensure that the affected teachers and schools were assisted,” he said.
He added that the rehabilitation of the houses demonstrated government’s commitment towards improving the working environment for educators, especially in rural communities.
