For weeks, speculation swirled about the future of the partnership, sparking concern among fans. However, Dlamini confirmed that discussions with MTN have been highly productive, with only a few details left to finalise.

“One can safely say MTN remains the league sponsor and there was nothing to panic about. We have deliberated on the deal and only need to finalise a few things. The agreement is 95% complete. I must thank the MTN executive for ensuring this sponsorship continues, it has been a memorable journey, and we look forward to a beautiful season ahead. We are also grateful to all football stakeholders for their patience as we worked to secure a new deal.”
Although he did not provide an exact start date, Dlamini said the league would commence soon after the deal was sealed. He encouraged teams to remain focused and continue preparations.
The chairman also extended gratitude to His Majesty King Mswati III for his unwavering support, especially during the recent 8Bet Trade Fair Cup.
The tournament concluded with Nsingizini Hotspurs lifting the trophy after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Green Mamba, thanks to a first-half strike by Quality Dlamini.
Broadening the Game
Looking ahead, Dlamini revealed that efforts were underway to broaden the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup inclusivity by incorporating women’s teams, National First Division sides, and junior structures.
While details are still being developed, he stressed that the PLE is committed to building a stronger and more diverse football ecosystem.
Echoing Dlamini’s optimism, MTN Eswatini Manager for Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Thandwayinkosi Dlamini, confirmed that negotiations were progressing well.
“Please be advised that discussions regarding sponsorship for the upcoming season are currently underway with the Premier League of Eswatini. Once concluded, the media will be duly informed through official channels,” she said.
With both parties expressing confidence, hope is high that the new season will not only proceed as planned but also mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Eswatini football.
