THE King’s Office Director of Legal Affairs Ntsika Fakudze’s voice captured the admiration of many as this weekend marked what appears to be his third stint as an interpreter for King Mswati III.

His delivery, measured, clear and confident, has not gone unnoticed, with members of the public describing him as both composed and proficient in handling the demanding role.

While the position is substantively held by Sihle Dlamini, Fakudze’s recent appearances have added a fresh dynamic to the role.

The public has pointed out that this is not a contest of voices, but rather an expansion of excellence, as both men bring distinct strengths to the delicate task of carrying the king’s message across languages and audiences.

Fakudze first stepped into the interpreting spotlight on April 10, during the Army Day celebrations held at Nokwane.

Since then, his presence has extended to some of the country’s most high-profile events.

Last Friday, he once again took centre stage, interpreting before an audience that included international Heads of State and government officials.

The occasion was twofold, the double celebrations at Somhlolo National Stadium marking King Mswati III’s 58th birthday and 40 years on the throne, as well as the official opening of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Ezulwini.

In both settings, Fakudze demonstrated an ability to match the tone and cadence of the king’s speeches, ensuring that meaning was not only conveyed, but felt.

It is this nuance, some say, that has endeared him to listeners.

Despite Fakudze’s growing visibility, Pastor Dlamini remains a steady presence.

He was in attendance at both events over the weekend in Lobamba and Ezulwini, underscoring continuity in the role even as new expressions emerge.
