FOLLOWING her inspiring win as Miss Freshers Luyengo Campus 2025/26, Andile Dlamini is setting her sights on a transformative mission using her newfound platform to foster unity and positivity across the university.
Crowned alongside Mr Freshers Sincumosethu Shongwe last Friday, Dlamini shared heartfelt insights on what drove her confidence and vision.
“I was inspired by the longing for change, for breaking boundaries and being limitless as a young person,” Andile revealed.
She emphasised the importance of self-validation before seeking approval from others, a mindset she hoped to instil among her peers. Her emotions during the crowning moment were “pure joy, gratitude, and exuberance,” reflecting the significance of the achievement.
Dlamini’s ambitions go far beyond the crown, drawing on advice from her father: “pray until an answer comes.”
She said she plans to launch an initiative called Kindness Day on campus. She stated that the event would encourage students and lecturers to exchange notes of appreciation and compliments, creating a positive atmosphere that validates and celebrates diversity and camaraderie.
On his part, Mr Freshers Sincumosethu Shongwe expressed his excitement about the win.
“It’s an incredible honour to represent Luyengo’s freshers. I’m motivated to use this platform to build bridges between students in different faculties, promoting teamwork and school spirit.”
Shongwe hinted at plans to organise collaborative events that foster inclusivity and empowerment throughout the academic year.
Former Mr Freshers Luyengo Campus Wakhile Dlamini said: “Together, Mr and Miss embody more than just beauty and talent; they are champions of a vibrant campus culture, ready to inspire change and leave a lasting impact at UNESWA Luyengo.
“The future looks bright as these two leaders use their voices to uplift everyone around them.”
