ANOTHER woman has tragically lost her life allegedly at the hands of her boyfriend of Holneck near Nhlangano.
Jabu Matsebula (37) was killed inside her house in the early hours of yesterday, allegedly by her longtime boyfriend Sizwe Msane who later handed himself to the police at Nhlangano Police Station.
It remains unclear what actually transpired leading to Matsebula losing her life.
There are suspicions that Matsebula was suffocated to death while in her sleep as she was found with bruises around the nose and mouth.
Sources claim that after the despicable act, her lover went to a drinking spot where he informed his friends that he had allegedly ended the life of her longtime girlfriend who was working as a labourer around Nhlangano.
Reports are that the two were known to be in love as at times the man would frequent the woman’s homestead where he was regarded by the deceased’s siblings as ‘brother’.
It is understood that Matsebula was from a child headed family as both parents had passed away, leaving the deceased to be responsible for almost everything.
Relatives were only made aware of Matsebula’s death in the morning when police arrived at the homestead after being directed by the suspect where to find the body.
Learnt
The deceased’s daughter Thando Zwane said they only learnt about their mother’s death when the police arrived with the keys to the house where her mother was killed.
“Around 2am police arrived and wanted to be shown my mother’s house. I was confused as to what exactly they wanted as she was an upright person. It did not click that she was lying dead inside the house,” she said as she forced back tears.
She added that when they went to sleep, there were no signs that showed her mother was not well. They were shocked in the morning when police arrived with the keys and opened the door.
The deceased’s younger sister Gabisile Matsebula said her sister was the breadwinner as they lost both parents. “She took care of the entire family, including her five children. She was a hustler, and we wonder as to who will take care of us now,” said Gabisile in tears.
Police Information and Communications Officer Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the murder, adding that the suspect handed himself to the police. He was arrested and charged with murder.
