ESWATINI swimming sensation Luca Fraser has been shortlisted for the prestigious Regional Annual Sports Awards (RASA), set to take place on Saturday in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The event will be graced by President of Zimbabwe and SADC Chairman, Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The 2025 edition of RASA, which celebrates sporting excellence and promotes regional integration, will see athletes from across Southern Africa honoured for their outstanding performances. Fraser’s inclusion in the top three finalists for the Best Young Sportsman category is a result of his recent triumph at the National Sports Awards hosted by the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) at Esibayeni Lodge, where he was named Best Young Sportsman.

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Lieutenant General Anselem Sanyatwe, confirmed President Mnangagwa’s attendance, emphasising the awards’ significance for both national development and unity within the SADC region.
“The guest of honour is none other than the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and the Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, as well as the SADC Chairman, Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa,” announced Sanyatwe.

This marks Fraser’s second consecutive appearance on the RASA shortlist, having also been nominated last year when the event was hosted in Lusaka, Zambia. His continued recognition underscores a consistent rise in his sporting journey.
The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA), through its Communications Officer Mkhulisi Dlamini, extended congratulations to Fraser for once again making the regional shortlist.

“We are incredibly proud of Luca and this remarkable recognition,” said Dlamini. “He has consistently demonstrated the drive and potential we strive to nurture within our sporting system. Luca is without a doubt one of Eswatini’s brightest young prospects, and we look forward to seeing him reach even greater heights.”
Dlamini added that the nomination is a reflection of Fraser’s discipline and dedication, and a source of immense national pride.
