MEMBERS of Parliament (MPs) have appreciated His Majesty King Mswati III for steering development and stability in the country.
This was shared by the MPs when asked how the weekend festivities proceeded as the country celebrated the king’s Ruby Jubilee and 58th birthday.
Sifiso Magagula, Member of Parliament for Mhlume, congratulated the king on the occasion of his 58th birthday and 40th coronation anniversary.
He said the double celebration held at Somhlolo National Stadium this past weekend was not only a testament to the cultural heritage of the nation, but also an opportunity to reflect on the development milestones achieved under His Majesty’s leadership over the past four decades.
“The presence of regional heads of State and former leaders reaffirmed the kingdom’s standing in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region and our commitment to shared prosperity. As we celebrate, we must also recommit ourselves to driving inclusive economic growth, youth employment, and infrastructure development that uplifts every Liswati,” he said.
Magagula added that the celebration highlighted 40 years of stability that has allowed for growth in education, health and infrastructure. He said this milestone inspired them to accelerate delivery on jobs, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and rural development.
Petros Sibandze, MP for Nkilongo, appreciated His Majesty for leading the country and placing it at another level.

He said the king had a dream of embarking on millennium projects, stating that the country had developed over the years and was now seeing the things that they once saw at a distance.
“The country now needs to promote the hotel internationally as its interior looks like someone is in a foreign land. Even though people had complained about the costs of the hotel before, we now see that every cent was worth it,” he said.
Hope Shiba, MP for Nkhaba, also appreciated the king and the success of the event. He said from the stadium, the event was well prepared and improvement was seen. He said the celebration was a sign that the king ruled the nation with wisdom and development.
He said the standard that has been set, especially with the ICC, was an indication that the king wanted the kingdom to reach first world status sooner.
“The roads and hospitals are also a sign that the country is developing. The elderly also receive grants and there is free primary education in the country. We hope that the development will also bring free secondary education. The king is also helping people with infrastructure development, including proper roads,” he said.
Shiba added that they were now left with the task of bringing small businesses closer to this development so that they are not left behind.
