A couple has been left dejected after an event designer vanished with their E22 500 on the day before their wedding.

The couple had anticipated walking down the aisle, having all their friends and family cheer them on under the perfect wedding venue decorations when they got disappointed by a trusted event designer at the 11th hour.

The wedding decorator allegedly took the money on April 4 in Manzini, but their great day was ruined when the event designer did not pitch.

This left everybody running around in a bid to save the day for the lovebirds.

Speaking to the police, the groom aged 30 reported that he had paid the known event designer about E22 500 for the wedding décor.

During the preparations, he said he kept in touch with the wedding decorator and everything seemed fine.

As a result, he alleged he kept his end of the bargain by the upfront payment, and he thought his wedding was set and planned.

On the day in question, which was prior to the wedding day, he said they discussed the finer details.

When they met they talked and everything seemed fine and according to the original plan.

That was until later when the event designer did not pitch, yet they had promised to come back for decorating the venue.

This took everybody by surprise. The wedding decorator was nowhere to be found. The couple kept calling some trusted people, but they never received a call back or refund.

This was when they decided to involve the police.

The disappointed couple said they did not want the event designer to do the same thing to others, and that is why they contacted the police.

The matter was reported with the Manzini police. Officers heard that the couple had done their research, and they settled with this particular wedding decorator.

The incident was confirmed by acting Deputy Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Inspector Mazwi Ndzimandze. Police were still gathering evidence to ensure justice for the victim at the time of publication.
