The War Words 6 poetry show was a resounding success, bringing together poetry enthusiasts for an unforgettable evening that inspired, educated, and united attendees.

The event, hosted on Saturday at Bethel Court and followed by the OGF Poetry Awards, featured high-quality performances, including Siya Imbongi’s powerful sets from his EP ‘Replay.’

Poet Siya Imbongi who headlined War Words 6, delivered three impeccable poems during the event.

The audience recited along to familiar pieces like ‘Replay’ and ‘Mdzimba.’ Siya’s performance touched on spirituality, love, gender-based violence, and cultural respect—topics that deeply resonated with the crowd. His feature with Lizwe Umlangeni was a standout moment, earning a standing ovation.

Other talented poets such as Gcayi Umkhaphelwano and The Poetic General also delivered captivating sets. Gcayi’s rich Siswati poems, infused with cultural essence, were well-received, while The Poetic General’s soul-touching performance included poems inspired by Qibho Intelektual.

The Poetic General shared how he recognised a teacher in the audience who had discovered his talent in school and encouraged him to pursue poetry. During his set, he performed his thought-provoking poem “Wakhuluma Umuntfu Lomdzala,” which left supporters in awe.

Lizwe Umlangeni’s wordplay and stage energy kept the audience fully engaged, and Melihle, the only female poet in the line-up, represented female voices with strength and grace.

Melihle represented female poets and lived up to the crowds expectations.

Musical performances by Blessing Dludlu, Samukelo Dlamini, and Bulelwa on saxophone added even more flavour to the night.

Optimistic Generation Forever (OGF) Movement CEO Tony Mabaso expressed gratitude to supporters, partners, and sponsors. He reaffirmed OGF’s mission to uplift the poetry industry in Eswatini.

“You attending this event means so much to us,” Mabaso said. “What is even more reassuring is that the poetry industry is growing. I would also like to appreciate the partners and sponsors who contributed to the success of the show—M7 Graphics, Jonokuhle Upholstery, The Music Lounge, and The Final Episodes. We appreciate you all.”

The evening ended on a high note with the first-ever OGF Poetry Awards, celebrating outstanding poets and contributors to the growing literary movement.
