ESWATINIMED Principal Officer Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane has retired.
In a heartfelt tribute, the EswatiniMed board praised Simelane’s leadership and dedication to improving healthcare in Eswatini.
For more than three decades, he worked closely with the board and his team to transform the organisation into a key part of the national healthcare system.
The board noted that under his stewardship, EswatiniMed grew into a modern healthcare solutions entity aligned with international standards and best practice.
His legacy, they said, goes beyond infrastructure and systems.
“He will be remembered for his humanity, his respect for people, his support for teams, and his belief that healthcare must always be grounded in compassion and dignity.
As EswatiniMed bids farewell, it does so with deep gratitude and respect for a leader whose contribution has left an enduring mark on both the institution and the country’s healthcare landscape,” the statement read.
The board also announced that Sicelo Mkhonta will serve as acting principal officer.
Mkhonta, who has years of experience with the entity, is backed by strong academic and professional training in healthcare management, finance and administration.
Expressing confidence in his leadership, the board said:
“His institutional knowledge, steady leadership and forward-looking perspective positioned him well to guide EswatiniMed into its next chapter.”
As the organisation continues its mission of delivering quality healthcare and value to its members, the board expressed full confidence in Mkhonta’s stewardship.
