Following a submission by Mayiwane MP Sicelo Dlamini demanding answers on the Miss Eswatini grand prize, Stucky Motors Eswatini has publicly denied sponsoring a brand-new car for reigning queen Temvelo Mtsetfwa.

Temvelo was expected to receive a new Jaecoo SUV from the dealership as part of her prize package but almost a year later, and just a month before her reign ends, she still hasn’t received the vehicle.

In a statement shared on social media, Stucky Motors said their role was limited to a photoshoot, not a sponsorship deal.
Stucky Motors Eswatini said they were approached by organisers of the Miss Eswatini pageant, asking if the contestants could take photos with their cars.

“We were happy to oblige and welcomed the ladies for a photoshoot. For clarity, Stucky Motors was never requested to sponsor a vehicle, nor did we make any commitment to do so.
“We are unsure how this misunderstanding arose, but we appreciate everyone’s interest and support,” reads the statement.

Meanwhile, Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima told Parliament that the ministry has taken legal steps to ensure the matter is properly addressed.
The Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima placed the blame on the pageant sponsors, accusing them of failing to keep their promises to Miss Eswatini Temvelo Mtsetfwa.

Nzima revealed that law enforcement agencies had been roped in and that the ministry would take action to compel the sponsors to deliver the car that was officially handed over to Mtsetfwa during her crowning.

Members of Parliament expressed shock and outrage over the injustices faced by the beauty queen, vowing to demand the car themselves if the ministry fails to act.
It also emerged that Mtsetfwa never received her tablet, another item that was part of her prize package but only received a cellphone instead.
