The man, who demanded a DNA test on one of his children, has since rejected its results that have returned positive; confirming that he is indeed the father of the child.

The man from Ntfonjeni, whose name will not be revealed for ethical reasons, claims that the DNA was performed under questionable circumstances, which is what he claimed made him not to trust them. He said he got wind of the ‘questionable’ laboratory on Facebook and decided to go and undergo the tests hastily. He stated that when they got to the laboratory with the child and his wife they were told that the results would be ready in 14 to 21 days.

He stated that he was shocked to later learn that they were supposed to collect these results before the stipulated 14 days had elapsed.

The man further said even the way they were given the results lacked professionalism such that they found the results opened while he was expecting them to be in a sealed envelope. He told the court that he wants another DNA test conducted at a reputable laboratory. The man still insisted that he was not the biological father of the child while his wife also maintained that he was the father.

This was after the man accused his wife of having had a sexual relationship with another man from the same area and they later bore the child in question.

Meanwhile, the wife told the court that she was very stressed with her husband’s actions regarding the issue of paternity.

She said she has not even communicated the results with the child in question as she was still praying for strength to do so regardless that they came back positive.

She said she fears that her son’s education could be affected as he is doing Form V. She also stated that her husband has the tendency of going around telling people about the issue of the DNA which she feels will affect the child in question. She further disclosed that her husband once approached her and apologised for all this saying he was being pushed by certain people within the family.

The court then ordered that the DNA be done again and the matter was postponed to May 26 pending filing of the new DNA results.
