THE fifth edition of the Makoti Festival marked a significant milestone as it introduced a second stage for the first time, elevating the overall experience for revellers at Malkerns Country Club on Saturday.


Dubbed the dance stage, the new addition expanded the festival’s platform, creating more room for artistic expression while amplifying sound and talent.

The event was both lively, with attendees clearly enjoying every moment as performances flowed seamlessly between the two stages.

More than 30 acts took to the stage, reflecting the festival’s continued commitment to promoting the country’s vibrant arts and culture scene.

The dance stage, in particular, opened doors for DJs from across the region, including South Africa, Mozambique, Lesotho and Eswatini, to showcase their craft and connect with a diverse audience.

Among those who kept the crowd entertained were SkyWhite from Mozambique, AyaCity, Bandora, Sgitha, among others, each bringing a unique sound that resonated with festivalgoers.

The main stage was equally electrifying. South African media personality and Uzalo actress Phindy Sifunda-Mashabane, popularly known as ‘TheRealQueen’, delivered a high-energy performance that ignited the crowd.

Meanwhile, internationally acclaimed gospel singer Nothando Hlophe captivated audiences with a powerful set that blended gospel with cultural elements, including kutsamba.

Mozambican star Liloca added her vibrant flair, while local talents such as Velemiseni, Sancheziey, Judah, Sarnilo, Young Zesh, Lyrikal Busta, True Classic, Stella Jacobs and MCO Jamrock ensured the energy remained high throughout the day.

The introduction of the second stage underscored the Makoti Festival’s growth, reinforcing its position as a key cultural and entertainment platform in the country.
