Ten scholarship recipients from Eswatini and Mozambique will travel to Ireland this month to pursue one-year Master’s degree programmes at various Irish universities, under the Ireland-Africa Fellowship Programme, fully funded by the Government of Ireland.

This was announced by the Irish government through their embassy in Mozambique, which confirmed the opportunities for Emaswati and Mozambicans who have been awarded the scholarships. Among the selected students are two young women from Eswatini and eight Mozambicans (three men and five women).

Ten young people, eight from Mozambique🇲🇿 and two from Eswatini🇸🇿, set off to Ireland🇮🇪 this month to attend their masters at excellent Irish universities under the Government of Ireland scholarship programme, fully funded by Ireland.

According to a statement from the Irish government, the fellows were chosen through a highly competitive and rigorous selection process that prioritised academic merit, professional experience and commitment to the development of their home countries.

“The Ireland-Africa Fellowship Programme is a strategic initiative of the Government of Ireland that provides opportunities for advanced education to young emerging leaders, with the aim of strengthening capacity and technical skills in strategic areas for sustainable development,” the statement read.

Upon their return, the students will apply the knowledge gained to actively contribute to the progress of Eswatini and Mozambique in fields such as governance, education, gender equality, health, climate change and peace building, which are all priority areas for the embassy.

Since the programme’s inception, many locals have already graduated in Ireland in diverse academic fields, from some of Ireland’s most prestigious universities that are globally recognised for the quality of their Master’s programmes and applied research.
