His Majesty King Mswati III, accompanied by Inkhosikati LaMatsebula, yesterday landed safely at the Haneda International Airport in Tokyo, Japan.
The King is in Japan to attend the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), which opens today at the Pacific Yokohama National Convention Hall.

His Majesty and the Inkhosikati were welcomed by the Japan TICAD9 Ambassador, Matsunaga.

The King is expected to join other world leaders for TICAD9 today, which will run for three days. His Majesty and the delegation were further received by Hiroyuki Tobari, General Manager at His Majesty’s hotel.

The King and Inkhosikati admired the welcome messages displayed at the hotel of residence, with some Japanese nationals rendering one of the King’s favourite gospel songs, “Siyabonga Jesu.”

TICAD9 Scheduled
TICAD9 is scheduled to take place in Yokohama, Japan, from August 20 to 22.
The conference, co-hosted by the Japanese Government, the United Nations, UNDP, the World Bank, and the African Union Commission, aims to foster African-led development through international cooperation.
TICAD9 will focus on key pillars such as:

Peace and stability
The summit will promote discussions on innovative solutions for Africa’s development.
