Following the Eswatini Football Association’s (EFA) decision that Head Coach Zdravko ‘Loga’ Logarusic should stay despite Sihlangu’s string of poor results; local football fans have been left divided.
This comes after the national team’s disappointing performance at the recent COSAFA Cup where they failed to go beyond the group stages yet again. Frustration boiled over when images of the under-pressure coach surfaced online, showing him appearing to assist a club in Saudi Arabia, which sparked outrage among supporters.
However, EFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu moved swiftly to address the matter, confirming that Logarusic’s contract runs until November this year and he is expected to lead the team throughout the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The CEO also explained that the coach was only ‘lending a helping hand’ during his holiday and had not signed any deal with the Saudi Arabian club.
Still, with back-to-back lacklustre performances including a 1-all draw with Madagascar and a 2-1 loss to Tanzania, many fans remain unconvinced that ‘Loga’ is the right man for the job.
This is what the fans said:
User 1: Our Football Association is failing us as nation, this coach is very useless.
User 2: The cheap coach stays.
User 3: ‘Loga’ is a good coach, if we can retain him we can compete to AFCON. Problem is EFA
User 4: Why we keep a coach who has brought no change? EFA is failing us.
User 5: I do not support Loga, but this is a fair call if he’s still within contract.
User 6: I am very angry that our football is dead. During in our youth times things were promising, now things are rotten.
User 7: If he can not do anything why do we need him?
User 8: After firing the coach, the football administration should also go home.
User: 9: Until we sort our issues, why do we need an international coach who contributes nothing as well? He was even late to report for camp because he was coaching in Saudi.
User 10: EFA has hired over 20 coaches, but still the results are bad. What do you expect the coaches to do with such players who do not know anything?
User 11: Until Eswatini takes development seriously, you will continue hiring and firing coaches.
User 12: Poor performance should have consequences. World Cup qualifiers or not, we need results.
