FRIDAY night at Xchange Lounge & Shisanyama was nothing short of spectacular as South African music heavyweight DJ Tira headlined Mxolisi ‘Waxola’ Mabuza’s birthday celebration.
Branded A Night With DJ Tira, the event began on a slow note in the afternoon, but as sunset approached, the venue quickly filled with excited fans eager for a night of top-tier entertainment.
An impressive lineup of local DJs warmed up the crowd, including Blvck, Teesto, Cnatra, Harmoniq, Rorro, Bisto, Sbu De Drum DJ, Fantacy, Daza, Motoyemali, Bandora, Zulu D and Mike.
Their diverse sets built anticipation and transformed the venue into a vibrant party hub ahead of the main act.
Although initially scheduled for a one-hour performance, DJ Tira took to the stage after 2am and extended his set to two full hours.
He delivered a thrilling mix of his biggest hits, engaging directly with fans and even stepping off the decks to dance among the crowd. His signature Durban-style energy kept the audience on their feet until the early hours.
Supporting him on stage was Captain SA, and together they performed crowd favourites including Cinderella and Ngiyabheja Nge Afro, sparking massive singalongs.
A standout moment came when DJ Tira invited Waxola on stage. The crowd united in singing Happy Birthday as the celebrant popped champagne and shared the special moment with supporters.

The strong bond between the artist and the venue’s managing director added a personal and heartfelt touch to the celebration.
Xchange Lounge Marketing Manager Meluleki ‘Sluga’ Simelane described the event as a major success, highlighting DJ Tira’s crowd-pulling power and the safe, incident-free environment.
Guests also praised Waxola’s leadership, humility and support for local creatives, crediting him for building strong relationships within the entertainment industry.
