The new Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Company (ENPC), Nontombi Motsa-Maphanga has committed to leading the organisation with integrity, discipline, and strategic clarity.


She acknowledged her former employer for the investment in her leadership development over the years.

She said the appointment goes beyond being a professional and personal milestone as it was a solemn responsibility to serve the Kingdom and its people through one of the strategic sectors of the economy.

She said petroleum security is the foundation of transportation, industry, agriculture, and general livelihoods. Maphanga said they carry a mandate that honours economic resilience, health, and social stability.

“Our immediate primary focus would be to immediately strengthen energy security by achieving the sound delivery of the fuel reserve facility,” she said.


ABOUT MAPHANGA

  • Maphanga is branded as a highly educated local who holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Civil Engineering), and a Master of Business Administration.
  • Maphanga joined EWSC as a Hydraulics Engineer in April 2006 and was appointed a member of the EWSC Strategy Implementation Team thereafter. In November 2008, she was appointed to the EWSC Executive Management Team as Technical Services Director.
  • She has been a board member in various companies. In her previous engagements, she has held the posts of Chemist (Quality Assurance) at Coca-Cola Eswatini and Project Coordinator for a water and sanitation NGO.
  • She is a member of the Eswatini Association of Architects, Engineers, and Surveyors and the International Water Association (IWA). She has served as a Board member for Lidwala Insurance Company and the Town Planning Board under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

CEO recruitment transparent

FINDING a suitable candidate as the new Chief Executive Officer of The Eswatini National Petroleum Company (ENPC) was transparent.

According to the Minister of Natural Resources and Energy Prince Lonkokhela, the process was out in the open, stating that independent consultants were engaged by the board to give them an insight into what they were doing.

He said there were people who were recommended and the processes were followed with the list of recommended candidates. He said the board chairman engaged the ministry, Cabinet, and received a go ahead from all these stages.

“There is no one who was against the appointment of Maphanga,” said the Minister.

ENPC Board Chairperson Velaphi Dlamini congratulated Maphanga on her appointment.
