The man suspected of killing a 32-year-old woman of Mvembili has been admitted in hospital after he sustained injuries while escaping from the wrath of community members.


The suspect aged 67, is alleged to have shot Thobile Dlamini twice in the head on Monday afternoon after an argument.

He is said to have fled after the incident. Following the shooting, Dlamini’s neigbours and community members tried to apprehend him.

It was then that he ended up hiding in a forest in Mvembili and fell into a cliff.

He injured himself on the arm and chest. The suspect was later arrested by Pigg’s Peak police after they got a tip-off on his whereabouts from community members.

He was taken to the Pigg’s Peak Police Station where he was kept, but was later rushed to the hospital after his condition worsened as a result of the injuries.

He is currently under police supervision while awaiting his day before the Pigg’s Peak Magistrate’s Court.

Sources claimed that the suspect used to threaten people with the gun, as he carried it in most cases. He is alleged to have at one point threatened the deceased’s family with it.

The gruesome murder has left the entire community and the nation in a state of shock as not long ago, the country woke to the news of a man who killed his wife by stabbing her over 16 times after he accused her of cheating on him. The man was also later found dead after the police launched a man-hunt.
