BUCKSWOOD students have painted KaNdzangu Primary School as part of their learning through manual work.
The students did not only bring new life to the learning spaces for their Eswatini peers but also played with them a game of ‘marble football’ and prepared the school’s agricultural plot. Yesterday marked the student’s third day in the country following their arrival on Monday.

The Buckswood students helped in soil preparation for a vegetable garden that would supply produce for the school’s kitchen and also in science and agriculture classes.
The team also prepared a poultry house for the arrival of 100 chicks, which would be used as part of an initiative to teach animal husbandry and provide food and income for the school community.

The students were also allowed to step into the shoes of a teacher and took the challenge with enthusiasm and a touch of overconfidence. They quickly discovered that managing a classroom was no small feat.

“I think they have found a whole new respect for their teachers back home,” said Principal Giles Sutton. He also watched his students as they tried to keep order and explain lessons to the learners.
The students visited Matsetsa Nazarene, Mahlabaneni and Ndangu Primary schools where they exchanged culture, music, dance, and shared powerful messages.

Giles addressed the pupils at each school and spoke about the importance of learning from one another and about one another. “The world grows smaller each day and it is through exchanges like these that we learn how connected we are. It is not just about us coming to help. It is about sharing, listening, and growing together.”

He went on to encourage both the Buckswood students and their Swati counterparts to embrace every opportunity to understand different cultures, ideas, and ways of life.
“This is how we become not just students, but global citizens,” he said.
