Cheers filled Siphofaneni High School Hall on Saturday as Bongiswa Nxumalo claimed the first Miss Siphofaneni title and a E5 000 prize.
History was made as Nxumalo became the first-ever Miss Siphofaneni during a colourful pageant hosted by Havilah House Eswatini.
The event, which started at midday, drew a large crowd from across the community as supporters packed the hall to witness the crowning moment and enjoy a mixture of fashion, poetry and music performances.
Contestant number six, Nxumalo, emerged victorious after impressing judges with her confidence, leadership qualities and passion for community development.
Her crowning moment came shortly after 6pm when tension filled the venue, with many standing on their toes waiting to hear the final announcement.
When her name was called, loud screams, chants and celebrations erupted across the hall as supporters rushed forward to congratulate her. Nxumalo walked away with E5 000, a smartphone, a hamper, a E1 000 clothing voucher and a E500 shopping voucher.
Nokuphiwa Gama, contestant number eight secured the first princess title and received E2 500, a hamper, a E500 clothing voucher and a E100 airtime voucher.
Sabusiswa Nyirenda, contestant number two, was named second princess and collected E1 500, a hamper and a E300 shopping voucher.
Additional prizes included driving lessons from M.O Driving School and a year-long skincare package worth E10 000 from iNALA SkinLab.
The event also featured energetic performances from local artists, with Sanchiezy keeping the crowd entertained throughout the afternoon.
Contestants also showcased fashion and poetry, adding excitement to the occasion.
Nxumalo described the victory as life-changing, explaining that she had spent many sleepless nights preparing for the competition.
“Winning this title means a lot to me because I want to be more than just a queen. I want to become the voice of the youth in Siphofaneni,” she said.
