Judge Mlangeni blasted the contempt of court offence committed by Simelane. He said if courts allow such to go unpunished, it would be potential recipe for lawlessness and disaster.
“The moment we tolerate the contempt of courts, we are taking this country down the drain and I am not one who is ready to do that,” Judge Mlangeni stated. He said he was therefore meting out a fairly stern sentence on both EswatiniMed as an institution and Simelane.

Simelane apologises
ESWATINIMED Principal Officer Peter Simelane apologised to the court for the misunderstanding that took place on Friday leading to his arrest.

This message was relayed by his legal representative Sabela Dlamini when mitigating before the judge delivered the sentence. Dlamini stated that his client had been misled into making the decision that led to him being in contempt of court. Judge Mlangeni said he appreciated the change of heart from Simelane as he had on Friday told him (Simelane) to find a human corner in his heart as his action lacked that human element.
