MAPUTO – Team Eswatini has etched its name in regional sporting history after delivering a landmark performance at the fourth and final leg of the CAVB Zone VI Beach Volleyball Tour currently underway in Mozambique.
The team’s impressive showing reflected growing depth and strength across both the men’s and women’s divisions, marking a major step forward for Eswatini’s beach volleyball programme.

Women’s Duo Reach Historic Quarterfinals
The spotlight belonged to Siwe and Pam, who became the first Eswatini women’s team to reach the quarterfinals of the regional tour, a proud and historic milestone for the country.
Their run was capped by strong performances throughout the group stages, highlighting Eswatini’s growing competitiveness on the regional stage.
In another highlight, Ndlovu and Nsibandze registered an impressive pool-stage victory over Lesotho’s Letsatsi/Chakache before bowing out in the quarterfinals to the seasoned Mozambican duo Angela and Vania.
Men’s Teams Show Promise and Determination
On the men’s side, Dube and Lukhele competed in Pool B, facing tough opposition from Botswana and Mozambique. Despite finishing with a low points ratio, the pair gained valuable experience and exposure.
Meanwhile, the duo of Mndzebele and Mlamuli Simelane fought valiantly in Pool C, pushing Zambia and Mozambique to tight scorelines, including a nail-biting 2–1 loss to Zambia’s Akakandelwa/Green Eagles.
Though they missed out on the knockout rounds, their performances showcased the growing competitiveness and resilience of Eswatini’s men’s beach volleyball squad.
A Turning Point for Eswatini Volleyball
Eswatini National Volleyball Association (ENVA) President Eric Gama praised the athletes for their breakthrough performances, describing the Maputo tour as a turning point for the sport in the kingdom.
“Eswatini made history,” Gama said.
“Our female team, Siwe and Pam, achieved a remarkable milestone by reaching the quarterfinals, a first for our nation. Our men’s duo, Sanele and Mlamuli, continue to shine as true beacons of Eswatini Beach Volleyball.”
He added that all teams have proven to be “a revelation and a promise for the bright future of beach volleyball in Eswatini.”
“We eagerly await the day when the finals will be a Swati affair,” he concluded.
