A suspected burglary led to the discovery of a woman’s corpse that had remained in the house for about six months.
Residents of Moneni, in the outskirts of Manzini city, were left in shock after the decomposed body of the woman who disappeared between March and April was discovered inside her house last Friday morning.

It was suspected that the woman who was identified as Lindiwe Elizabeth Gamedze had committed suicide by hanging. She reportedly lived alone at the homestead.
According to some residents, the discovery of the body was made under unusual circumstances as they suspected that a burglar who tried to gain entry into her house through a window was the first to notice the remains. They added that the suspected burglar aborted his mission after spotting the decomposed body on the floor and instead wrote two notes, which he pinned at different spots within the community, alerting residents to the discovery and providing directions to the house.

“Yinyadzaleyo. Hambani niyohlola ekhabo G***dze kubole umuntfu endlini washona. Nihlole ngase garaji. Ngatsi ngulo anti wakhona loshonile. Shesha,” reads one of the notes that were seen by community members.
It was then that some of the residents went to the homestead to check if what was on the note was true. Sources said while at the homestead, a stench and flies came from the house, and maggots were seen crawling on the curtains. When they peeped through the window, the residents reportedly saw the decomposed woman’s body on the floor.
The woman’s remains were reportedly found in a gruesome state, with her body badly decomposed and her head detached from the rest of her body. According to reports, a rope was found dangling from the rafters of the house, suggesting that she may have hanged herself and that the body later fell to the floor as decomposition progressed.
Bucopho Sabelo Dlamini was reportedly informed about the matter and he went to the scene, then later called the police.
Dlamini, stated that one window of the house had been tampered with, giving the notion that the person who made the discovery had tried to gain entry.
He further stated that the suspected burglar was from around the area as his notes indicated that he knew the homestead and the dead woman. When asked if the residents or her family had reported the woman missing, Dlamini said some of her neighbours said they assumed she was in Vryheid, South Africa, as she had initially hinted that she was going there to visit her relative.
“Also, it was hard for neighbours to think that something was amiss because it was never dark at the homestead. Even if electricity units had run out, a nearby Apollo light lit-up the homestead at night,” said Dlamini. He further stated that recently, the woman’s nephew went to the same homestead to clear the yard as it had overgrown grass, but he never suspected anything. “When the police arrived, we discovered that only the burglar door was locked with its key on a nearby table inside the house,” said Dlamini.
Deputy Chief Police Information and Communications Officer, Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni, confirmed that a report of a decomposed woman’s body at Moneni was made to the police.
