A woman has been arrested after she brutally attacked her lover’s two sons, killing one by slitting his throat in the process.

The horrific tragedy played out around Ngcina, which is located on the outskirts of Siteki, in the Lubombo region.

Police found the six-year-old Siniketo Khumalo lying in a pool of blood at his home, after he was allegedly cut with a knife once on the throat on Thursday, shortly after 2pm.

The incident unfolded after one of the two children belonging to the woman’s lover managed to slip away, apparently after he was struck with a bushknife on the head.

The two children aged six and nine were brutally attacked by the woman, in a fit of jealousy after she suspected her lover to be having a secret love affair behind her back.

The woman’s home is not far away from the man’s place, where the children lived.

The children were alone when the woman invaded the lover’s place of abode on Monday afternoon. She has a seven-month-old baby with the same man, but the victims were not her biological children.

Six-year-old Siniketo was pronounced dead on the scene. The cause of death was determined to be a cut on the throat with a sharp object.

He had a deep cut on the throat, according to a witness.

The aggressor was immediately captured by an irate mob after the surviving nine-year-old boy raised the alarm having managed to slip away from the raging woman.

She was, thereafter, extensively interrogated by the angry crowd, which later handed her over to the police.

She told the curious residents that she attacked the children to spite her lover, who she suspected was having a secret love affair behind her back.

She had attacked the children unprovoked while their father was away.

Coincidentally, the man, who was identified as Majuba Khumalo, had gone to the Siteki Police Station to file for a restraining order against the same woman that he described as abusive.

He told the police that the mother of his child had issued multiple threats against him and that she would frequently dump their seven-month-old baby at his place while he was away at work.

The death of the man’s six-year-old son shocked the small community of Ngcina.

The woman was arrested on the same day for the heinous crime. The surviving nine-year-old boy has visible injuries to his head.

The suspect was detained at the Siteki Police Station and subsequently charged with murder and attempted murder. Her arraignment can be expected soon.

Acting Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni acknowledged receiving a report about the horrific tragedy.
