The agreement was signed by City of Windhoek Mayor Ndeshihafela Larandja and Matsapha Mayor Lindiwe Dlamini in Windhoek, Namibia.

The partnership establishes a framework for cooperation in key areas, including economic development, with a focus on supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), promoting investment, and advancing environmental sustainability through knowledge exchange and the adoption of greener, more resilient urban practices.

The framework also prioritises education and innovation, by advancing knowledge-sharing, skills transfer, and capacity-building initiatives. In addition, it highlights tourism, heritage, and culture by strengthening cultural exchanges that celebrate diversity and enhance people-to-people connections.

During the signing ceremony, Mayor Larandja emphasised that the agreement was more than a formal document, describing it as a shared vision of collaboration, innovation, and prosperity for the two communities.

“Our partnership is not only about local development, but also about contributing to the broader vision of an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, as outlined in the African Union’s Agenda 2063,” she said.

Meanwhile, Mayor Dlamini and her delegation toured several Windhoek facilities, including the Katutura Buy Back Centre, Bokamoso Entrepreneurial Centre, Gammams Wastewater Treatment Works, Goreangab Water Reclamation Plant, and the Kupferberg Waste Disposal Facility.

The delegation also visited cultural sites such as the Windhoek City Museum and the Independence Memorial Museum.
