A 35-year-old officer of His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) has died tragically after hanging himself at his home at Malindza.
It is said Nhlanhla Dlamini had a fierce domestic quarrel with his wife.
A source claimed that in the midst of the fight, Dlamini left home in a huff, only to return to an unused bedroom, where he locked himself in before taking his own life.
“He had a confrontation with his wife over insults which were hurled at the woman’s daughter by the man’s secret lover and baby mama over the phone. Nhlanhla had left his cellphone in the house when his secret lover called to enquire about their child’s maintenance,” the source alleged.
A relative claimed that the cellphone had been ringing for a while when the man’s daughter decided to answer it.
However, the secret lover thought it was the man’s wife answering the call when she heard a female voice.
Without bothering herself about ascertaining the identity of the person the woman simply launched into an offensive, hurling a barrage of insults at the man’s daughter.

Confused and disappointed, the innocent child reportedly took the phone to her mother and narrated her ordeal.
A witness claimed that the peeved wife took the phone and spoke to the person who had allegedly insulted her daughter.
The relative alleged that it was at the height of the heated conversation that the woman eventually discovered that her husband was not faithful. The woman allegedly heard for the first time that her husband was having an affair, and that he had other children as well.
It is said this resulted in the woman confronting Dlamini when he returned home from socialising with friends in the evening, igniting a heated argument.
He is said to have immediately left home, only to return in the early hours of the following morning and proceeded to an unused bedroom, where he allegedly locked himself in, before using a rope to take away his own life.
It is said the deceased’s wife only realised in the morning that something had happened when she was trying to clean the house.
It is said she discovered that the bedroom which was usually left open had been locked. This raised suspicions, prompting the woman to ask neighbours to assist with opening the door.
“She was cleaning the house because they were to leave later in the afternoon and travel back to work.
“So, when she discovered that the bedroom was locked she suspected something was amiss and sought the help of neighbours,” claimed the relative.
The woman’s worst fears were confirmed when she was confronted by the dangling body of her husband, which was hanging from the rafters.
The body had to be taken to hospital, where the man was declared dead by a medical practitioner.
An attempt was made to speak to the woman but a relative said she was inconsolable.
“I don’t think it is the right time, please allow her the space to mourn the death of her husband,” said the relative.
The woman’s in-laws were also trying to come to terms with what befell the family, and to understand the reason why the man eventually took the extreme step.
The tragic death was reported by the woman to the police, and a press statement released by the Information and Communications Office of the Royal Eswatini Police Service confirmed the death. The incident was described by the police as a suicide.
Dlamini was buried at Malindza on Sunday morning, in a funeral that was marked by a tense atmosphere.
