The much-anticipated Unlock Summit, hosted by K3Y, lived up to its hype as it filled the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre to capacity yesterday.
With all tickets sold out ahead of the event, organisers introduced a live-streaming option to accommodate those unable to attend in person.
The summit brought together hundreds of entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and public servants under one roof, sparking impactful conversations around leadership, innovation, and change.
From the outset, the energy was electric as attendees arrived for registration and made their way into the buzzing venue.
The event opened with a dynamic panel featuring Ubombo Sugar Limited Managing Director Muzi Siyaya, Instacash MD Cheeks Nxumalo, Eswatini Bank MD Nozizwe Mulela, and Mbabane City CEO Gciniwe Fakudze.
The panel explored the theme “Self-Leadership: Self-Development Before You Can Lead Others,” offering rich insights on clarity of purpose, consistency in leadership, and leading by example.
Their thought-provoking discussion left the audience deeply engaged and wanting more. Later in the day, another heavyweight panel took the stage, consisting of Central Bank Governor Dr Phil Mnisi, ICT Minister Savannah Maziya, Executive Chairman of A Peculiar People Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini, and Eswatini Water Services Corporation MD Jabulile Mashwama.
Together, they delved into the evolving dynamics of leadership in times of uncertainty, the importance of digital innovation, and building resilient institutions.
The highlight of the summit was a powerful keynote address by celebrated African business leader and investor Vusi Thembekwayo. Known for his bold ideas and motivational delivery, Thembekwayo challenged attendees to scale their businesses, embrace a mindset of greatness, and prioritise purpose over profit. Thembekwayo gave a one hour and 20 minutes talk on entrepreneurship and how they could unlock their selves to greatness.
He also spoke on how the country could develop with selves to reach its full potential.
“There is more money in circulation than ever before entrepreneurs must position themselves to receive it,” he urged, adding that greatness is not an outcome, but a choice.
In interview Central Bank of Eswatini Deputy Governor Felicia Dlamini Kunene shared how the summit was inspirational and insightful event.
She added that the first session reminded her there was a need to be deliberate in leadership position especially when one is serving the public.
“We need to drive purpose and we need to understand what we are all about,” she said.
The summit successfully delivered on its promise to spark dialogue and inspire change. Attendees left energised, equipped with practical insights, and ready to implement the lessons learned in their respective fields.
