Lest we forget, lets start with how this current deadly war started ,a fact that is conveniently ignored by most progressive activists; in October, 7, 2023 ,terrorists crossed the Israel border from Gaza, a besieged the bordering communities for hours, the campaign left in its trail 1200 deaths, largely civilians.
They stormed a music festivals which had attracted hundreds of fun-loving youths ,360 of these young people were murdered in cold blood, the terrorists also kidnapped over 250 Jews – this group has been at the center of the awful bargaining of Hamas terrorists ,using them to negotiate the release of convicted terrorists from Israeli prisons in exchange for the release of the hostages.
This barbaric attack ,naturally ,led into the war which has lasted just over 2 years, Hamas terrorists determined that the war would be an urban warfare, fought in the streets of Gaza; the alarming number of causalities, put at 67 160 by the Hamas-run health ministry, bears witness to the irresponsible choice of Hamas to provoke an enemy and then retreat to the streets and alleys of Gaza; in fact, the urban warfare used by Hamas relies in two factors for its success and by success we don’t mean winning any war, no, instead the two factors speak to the use of human shields, for starters and secondly on the biased coverage by the global progressive media where the villain is portrayed as the victim.
Too many conservative Christians that were complaining of an ethical dilemma in their support for Israel were actually victims of this propaganda.
We can not deny the fact that the strategy of urban warfare and its accompanying progressive media bias has been at the heart of swaying support away from Israel – the innocent children the campaign sacrifices invoked the conscience of the world and the villains became victims as Hamas terrorists utilised their film production skills to capture the most diabolical images.
But this fact must never be lost to conservative Christians, the alleged 18 000 children killed in the war are very much victims of the irresponsible choice of strategy by Hamas, using urban warfare should be considered a war crime; we really need to amply this fact, Hamas started the war by launching a brutal onslaught on Israeli noncombatants, then the terrorists ran off and retreated into the streets and alleys of Gaza, ensuring the ensuring war would have a high number of noncombatants, what kind of a world is not outraged by such diabolical conduct?
We needed to preamble with these painful details to lay the background for the Trump peace deal; the deal comprises 20 points, which we briefly discuss. (1) The de-radicalisation of Gaza – a point that speaks to killing the culture of hatred; (2) the immediate halt of hostilities if Hamas and Israel agree to the deal; (3) Gaza will be redeveloped; (4)the release of hostages with 48 hours after Israel`s adoption of proposal; (5) subsequent to release of hostages, Israel will then free hundred of Palestinians doing time in Israeli jails; (6) amnesty will be granted to Hamas members who are receptive to coexistence and those wishing to leave will be granted peaceful exit; (7) the resumption of aid distribution in accordance with the benchmarks set in Jan, (8) an economic plan will be created to rebuild Gaza through the convening of experts with experience in constructing modern Middle East cities; (9) an economic zone will be established, with reduced tariffs and access rates to be negotiated by participating countries; (10) no one will be forced to leave Gaza, but those who choose to leave will be allowed to return. We are highlighting the points that we believe lay the ground for a vibrant culture of peace and economic activity, the acceptance of Israel`s right to exist is really a common sense condition – the citizens of Gaza need to shake off the ideology of extremism promoted by pariah states like Iran and others.
It was a huge source of hope to hear the leader of the most populous Muslim State, Indonesia, president Prabowo Subianto speaking at the United Nations General Assembly calling for the respect of the State of Israel`s right to exist. The Middle East belongs to a generation of peace-loving citizens, both Jewish and Arabic.
The derailment of the progressive anti-Israel agenda
Progressive governments like the UK, France, Canada and Portugal who had already unilaterally taken the decision to recognise the state of Palestine, together with countries such as South Africa who led the litigation against Israel at the International Court of Justice, were riding on a really high horse thinking their efforts would guide engagement between Israel and the Palestinians. These group of progressive governments were also hoping to effect the warrant of arrest against Prime Minister Netanyahu and his former defence minister, all these has been pushed to the back burner as Trump`s peace deal takes deserved precedence.
The belligerent tide against Israel was really gaining momentum, with the Flotilla last week hogging the world attention through the well-orchestrated global progressive media campaign. The Flotilla campaign was, unsurprisingly, extensively covered by the South African media, and of course, Mandla Mandela was part of the voyage riding on his grandfather`s reputation.
Trump`s Gaza Peace deal delays the global agenda to persecute the state of Israel, but we would be very naïve that this deal means the end of this global progressive agenda – and as one American friend is fond of mentioning, at the thick of this campaign are actually woke Jews from the US. The support for the right of Israel to exist and to defend itself must be sustained, no amount of propaganda should be allowed to sway the support of Christian conservatives away from this noble and prophetic obligation.
