In ensuring that the standard of news reporting remains at its best, the Taiwan Embassy has once again donated two laptops and two cameras to the Eswatini Observer.
The handover of the tools was made on Friday by the Taiwan Ambassador, Jeremy Liang, at the embassy.
Ambassador Liang said it was always a pleasure to assist the local media where possible in ensuring that the best quality news and pictures are delivered as the publication keeps the country and world informed about what is happening in the country.
The ambassador said that with the budget allowing in future, they would always be happy to lend a helping hand to the media to ensure that accurate news were delivered with world-class equipment.
Eswatini Observer acting Managing Director Mbongeni Mbingo, who received the tools, said the organisation was grateful for the donation of the essential tools to help in running the newsroom efficiently.
“On behalf of the team, we just want to say thank you. This is a great deal for us,” Mbingo said.
He further highlighted that the donation was particularly meaningful given that it came despite the embassy’s limited resources.

He stressed that every effort and gesture of support was highly valued by the publication.
“These tools will definitely improve how we work. Over the years we have been improving step by step, but with this support we will be able to take five more steps ahead,” Mbingo explained.
He said the Eswatini Observer had long been dedicated to serving the public by reporting on national issues and the new equipment would strengthen its ability to produce high-quality content.
Mbingo stated that the donation reflected the ongoing friendship and cooperation between Taiwan and Eswatini, which continues to grow through initiatives that support development and progress across various sectors.
In September 2025, the Eswatini Observer was a recipient of two laptops and two cameras, also from the embassy.
Ambassador Liang said the embassy was committed to working closely with the newspaper to raise public awareness about the strong relations between Taiwan and Eswatini.
He explained that the bond between the two nations had grown beyond friendship and could now be described as a family relationship.
“We will do our best to continue lending our support,” Ambassador Liang promised.
