‘Pupu’, as he is affectionately known, shared these sentiments after scoring a stunning goal from outside the box to hand his side a sweet revenge victory over Nsingizini Hotspurs. This was during a Premier League match played at King Sobhuza II Stadium on Wednesday, with the Correctional Services emerging 1-0 winners.

The midfielder revealed that participating once again in continental football was not only a team ambition but also a clear instruction from the club’s management.

“The dream is to go back to the continental competition. We are fully aware that a lot needs to be done if we want to achieve that goal. As a team we are ready to fight with everything we have. Competitions like the CAF Champions League truly test your strength and character,”

He went on to admit that the team did not enjoy the best of starts to the season but had since managed to address the challenges that initially held them back, hence their recent return to winning ways.

“Firstly, I am happy to have helped my team secure this win. We greatly appreciate all the stakeholders in the club for being patient with us. Our poor start was not intentional, we were still trying to find our rhythm and understand each other on the field. I believe we are now on the right track.”

Sikhondze also expressed his gratitude to the Green Mamba management and technical team for believing in his abilities and giving him the opportunity to contribute to the team’s success.

“I would like to thank the management for bringing me to this great club and the technical bench for trusting me with game time. Special thanks also go to my teammates, who gave me a warm welcome, it really feels like home now,” he said.

The Correctional Services side will next face Ubombo Sugar at the Mayaluka Stadium where they will be aiming to extend their winning streak and continue building momentum towards their continental football dream.
