THE Ingwenyama Cup Knockout Tournament finals proved a massive hit both on and off the field, as the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) confirmed it generated a staggering E500 000 from ticket sales alone.

The soccer spectacle, a vibrant fusion of football and culture, drew thousands of fans from across the kingdom, filling the country’s iconic national stadium to its rafters. The PLE, which had set a 10 000-ticket target ahead of the final, triumphantly hit and surpassed the mark, with every ticket snapped up well before kick-off, leading to a rare complete sell-out across all sale outlets.

Premier League of Eswatini Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Petros ‘Kungumusa’ Vilakati confirmed the news, expressing gratitude to supporters and stakeholders for making the event a resounding success.

“We are thrilled with the response from the public.
All 10 000 tickets were sold out, and due to the high demand, we had to make additional provisions. I will be in a better position to comment on the final figures once I receive a full report from our vendor.

“However, what I can safely confirm for now is that we managed to meet and exceed our ticket sales target, generating E500 000 in the process. This is exactly the kind of energy and support we want to see in our beautiful game,” he said.

The PLE administrator further highlighted that the funds will not only bolster the league’s coffers but also be used to cover operational costs incurred during the event and benefit the participating teams.Vilakati was also full of praise for the tournament’s patron, His Majesty King Mswati III, whose continued support and guidance, he noted, played an instrumental role in the tournament’s organisation and overall success.

He equally lauded the unwavering commitment of sponsors, the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF), for their enduring investment in football, and national culture.
“This tournament is not just about football it’s about celebrating who we are as Emaswati.

With the support of His Majesty and our sponsors, we are confident that future editions will be even bigger and better,” he added.
The Ingwenyama Cup finals once again solidified their reputation as the crown jewel of Eswatini’s sporting calendar by offering not just high-octane football action, but a grand celebration of national identity and pride.
