The beloved nurse and content creator has landed a major campaign with Woolworths and his heartwarming surprise for his father has the internet buzzing.
“When I say God is in the hood, I mean it. not long ago, heaven literally sent a brand opportunity to my doorstep,” he shared with a smile.
It all started with a phone call from Woolworths’ visual manager, an unexpected but life-changing moment.
“They told me Woolworths wanted to work with me and honestly, I didn’t think twice. I just said yes,” he said.
As part of the campaign, influencers were asked to shop in-store with a father figure, capturing the experience on camera. But Wekhantri wanted to go the extra mile.
“I told my dad we needed to go sign something at my workplace. But instead, I took him shopping at Woolworths,” he explained.
What followed was a genuine, emotional video that quickly went viral. Within one hour, the TikTok clip had already reached 10 000 views and two hours later, Instagram views surpassed 15,000.
The heartwarming moment struck a chord with viewers, who flooded the comments with love and praise. Even Woolworths headquarters was moved by the authenticity of the campaign.
“I’m so grateful. It was such a beautiful experience. Big thanks to Luleka, who was behind the camera and helped me edit everything. We went above and beyond what was expected and it showed.”
He acknowledged that working with a high-profile retail brand like Woolworths was a milestone, especially for someone committed to staying true to himself.
“It’s incredibly humbling. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to this. Working with an international brand means your portfolio overflows but so does your heart.”
While many might see this as a reason to jump into full-time content creation, Wekhantri has other plans.
“I don’t know if I’ll still be relevant in a few years as I am taking the academic route. But who knows, you might still see me on a billboard someday,” he said with a laugh.
