Mzayoni, born Mpendulo Tsabedze, is rapidly making a name for himself in the gospel music scene.

Beyond his rising musical career, he recently celebrated a significant personal milestone by wedding his bride, Samukelisiwe Gama, marking an important step in his life.

Mzayoni praises his wife for her unwavering support in his ministry, from praying alongside him and attending his events to contributing to his songwriting. Their relationship is built on mutual understanding and a shared vision for a future grounded in faith.

Mzayoni’s music journey started as a backup vocalist, a role that taught him humility, patience, and the importance of staying focused on his goals. Performing alongside some of the most accomplished gospel artists in the region, including South African stars Ayanda Ntanzi and Neyi Zimu, as well as local talents like Linda Dlamini and Nduduzo Matse, helped shape his artistry and stage presence.

His transition to a solo artist happened after his Mother of All Gospel Shows win and was followed by his first one-man show, ‘The Appointed Time’, hosted in December 2024 at Zakhele Church of the Nazarene. The idea for the show came through prayer and reflection, with Mzayoni feeling that the timing was divinely appointed. The event showcased his ability to lead worship and celebrate the rich musical talent within Eswatini.

Mzayoni’s single, Uhlobisa Umnyaka, was inspired by Psalm 65:11, a scripture that deeply resonated with him during a sermon by Pastor Alex Mngomezulu. This song, like much of his music, aimed to lead listeners into a deeper spiritual connection and celebration of God’s blessings.

His debut album, ‘The Appointed Time’, reflects his personal spiritual growth and desire to minister through music. It is a collection born from introspection and a commitment to worship that is both heartfelt and authentic.

Mzayoni’s faith deeply influences his music and life. Raised in a family of worshippers at Kashoba, Mpolonjeni, in the Lubombo region, he also pursued teaching after graduating from the Southern Africa Nazarene University (SANU), combining his love for nurturing others with his calling as a gospel artist.

He credits his success to God’s guidance and the mentorship of established gospel artists. His advice to upcoming musicians is to give their best in every opportunity, no matter the size of the audience.

Mzayoni released his live recording of ‘The Appointed Time’ yesterday and he is set to headline the ‘Hymnal Experience Vol. 2’ on February 21. He continues to thrill audiences with energetic performances, including popular songs like Bika KuJesu.

Mzayoni’s journey from backup singer to solo gospel artist is a story of faith, perseverance, and divine timing. With a growing musical portfolio and a supportive partner by his side, he is poised to continue impacting Eswatini’s gospel music scene and inspiring believers everywhere.

His music invites all to experience God’s perfect timing—their appointed time for transformation, worship, and breakthrough.
