A total of 256 823 children were vaccinated against measles and rubella countrywide during the nationwide vaccination campaign aimed at protecting children against measles.
This was confirmed by Nursing Sister in-charge for the Manzini region, Sithembile Mabuza.
The nationwide vaccination campaign, which aimed at protecting children against measles, surpassed the target of 150 000 children aged between nine months and five years.

Mabuza stated that as part of the vaccination exercise, the children were receiving the measles-rubella (MR) vaccine, the polio vaccine as well as Vitamin A supplementation and albendazole for deworming.
Vaccine Numbers
She said 47 344 children received the polio vaccination while 118 225 children were given the measles vaccine.
She added that 56 857 children had the Vitamin A supplement, while 34 397 received albendazole.
She mentioned that the Manzini region recorded the highest number of children vaccinated against rubella and measles at 100 951, followed by Hhohho with 73 770, then Lubombo with 51 826, while in the Shiselweni region only 30 280 children were vaccinated.
Collaboration
This comes after the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), announced a nationwide vaccination campaign aimed at protecting children against measles and rubella.
Campaign Reach
The campaign ran from August 4–15 and targeted over 150 000 children aged between nine months and five years across the country.
It reached communities such as Mangwaneni, Moneni, Ngwane Park, Sicelwini, Mobeni and Mbikwakhe, among others.
