In a vibrant gathering that took place yesterday, the Manzini Lions Club officially launched the inaugural Family Fun Day.
The event will take place on October 25.
This ground-breaking event promises to be a day filled with joy, laughter, and community spirit, making it a unique addition to the local calendar, especially for families with children. The heart of the Family Fun Day lies in its commitment to supporting local orphanages.
As highlighted by Simie Dlamini, representing the Manzini Lions Club, all proceeds from the event would be directed towards maintaining and expanding their active projects that support over 450 children in care points across Mafutseni, Makholweni, Lavundlamanti, and the Mpaka Refugee community.
“This launch is us saying we want to raise funds to enhance our services,” Dlamini stated.
“We would like to add more care points, and as a result, this launch today is a fundraiser event. We want it to be an annual event,” she added. According to Swazi Boy Entertainment Director Mthunzi ‘Shadow’ Zwane, the Family Fun Day aimed to bring families together in a celebration of connection and joy. He was happy to reveal the first drop line-up of entertainment, which will include the renowned South African kwaito group Trompies and other local acts like Itallo, Crooks, and ItsAllBlaq.
The event will kick-off at 10am and is themed around the vibrant 60s, offering a nostalgic atmosphere for attendees of all ages.
One of the standout features of the event is its focus on indigenous games, which will include popular activities such as inketo, tikotela, dayi, insontfo, three sticks, mlabalaba, and ingcatfu.
This emphasis on traditional games not only promises a fun-filled experience but also serves as an educational opportunity for children to engage with their cultural heritage. Tickets for the Family Fun Day are reasonably priced, starting at E150 for early birds, with further phases at E200 and E250. Children’s tickets are available for E70, while activity tickets are priced at E100.
The Family Fun Day promises to be a landmark event in the Manzini community, combining fun, entertainment, and a noble cause. It is an opportunity for families to come together, engage in enjoyable activities, and contribute to a meaningful cause that supports the most vulnerable children in the area.
