LIFE GOES ON

THE saying ‘life goes on’ means that despite hardships, sadness, or setbacks, life continues and people must move forward and adapt.

It is a reminder that change is constant and that everything will eventually pass. The phrase is often used to offer comfort or encourage resilience in the face of adversity.
The above definition I picked up from my AI buddy although I am sure the Oxford Dictionary carries a similar definition.

Anyway, the above definition rings true to all that we have gone through as Emaswati in the month of May 2025.
Just last Thursday we were all upset following reports that an eight-year-old girl had been found beheaded after a kidnapping incident which occurred over a week ago. Many of you called for the return of the death penalty while others said the suspect should be sentenced to life imprisonment under the harshest of conditions.

However, today if I could ask who the name of the victim was or her surname, we would all blushingly start biting our fingernails.
Her name is Tifezile Gwebu and in all honesty I know it because it comes with the job knowing such details. Not that, like the rest of you I do not care about what happened to the beautiful innocent child, but it all goes back to the idiom life goes on.

I would not even ask us to bother remembering the name of the girl who was also raped and murdered at Nyakatfo because we just would not know, we are upset about the incident, but hey life does go on.
I know this because on my WhatsApp status this past Friday I had posted a picture of Tifezile, where I passed a message of condolences. Some of you were obviously touched and remarked that something had to give about this senseless killings.

My next post had something to do with the MTN Bushfire Festival and the very people who had paid condolences to the deceased child were begging for tickets because they needed to party and get some stress out of their systems. Unfortunately, contrary to popular believe I did not have any ticket, not even a complimentary one from my so called friends in high places.

A good thing my body was for some reason in 2025 not in Bushfire mode and I was content with the few updates some of my friends posted. As I was saying, the deputy prime minister’s office had just the day before condemned the killings and further revealed shocking statistics of child killings, kidnappings, murder and general gender-based violence etc. However, because we have to keep being positive in life and remind each other that life goes on, the prime minister and his deputy were seen happily smiling and genuinely happy with what Eswatini was showcasing during the amazing Bushfire opening day on Friday.

The DPM was impressed in particular with what young Emaswati were doing and encouraged that the stalls should not only be in place for this particular festival, but for all other activities. So when was the DPM supposed to think back to Tifezile, because more than anything senior government officials are, if anything, expected to bring us hope on a daily basis.

While in the issue if Tifezile and the police mounting a search which was joined by the National Commissioner of Police Manoma Vusi Masango I could not help but wish to meet the NatComm in person.
This follows remarks made by Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Prince Simelane during the Ascension Day services held at Mbangwei Royal Residence last Thursday.

The minister was short of washing the NatComm’s feet as he sang his praises about the role he played in the search for the missing child. Prince Simelane said Masango was a man of action who had shown dedication and commitment to the task entrusted in him by the king. He said Masango, since he was appointed, had made a difference and should be applauded as he led by example and left the comfort of his office to personally witness what was happening on the ground.

“This is my personal observation on the good work being done by Masango as NatCom.
The commitment and dedication to his work are all there for everyone to see that he is equal to the task,” said Prince Simelane.
The minister also said he had noticed that when the police were also destroyinh dagga fields, the NatComm was also in the midst of things at the fields. “He was not giving orders, but was seen himself destroying dagga,” added the prince.

The same nice words about Masango were also echoed by the Shiselweni Regional Administrator Themba Masuku, who thanked him for the commitment he had shown and also joining the search for the Jericho child.

As you can see Mr NatCom everyone is rooting for you and sees your potential, so can the police speedily bring these thugs to justice or will life simply go on once the hype has died down.?
Until next week do not forget to be kind!
