
The Republic of China (Taiwan) President Lai Ching-te has safely arrived in Taiwan.
According to Taiwan news reports, the president arrived yesterday morning after visiting Eswatini over the weekend.
On his social media platforms, President Lai Ching-te confirmed his safe return, stating that under his leadership and with the cooperation of national security and diplomatic teams, the mission was successfully accomplished.
Ching-te said the success of the visit was a result of collective effort.
He noted that from departure to return, the delegation travelled approximately 25 000 kilometres over 84 hours, once again experiencing the deep friendship that has existed between Taiwan and Eswatini for more than half a century.
“The two Heads of State also witnessed the concrete achievements accumulated by both sides in the fields of energy security, economic and trade investment, agricultural cooperation, smart healthcare, women’s empowerment as well as cultural and educational exchanges,” he said.
He expressed his gratitude to His Majesty King Mswati III, government and Emaswati for their warm and steadfast support.
He added that during the visit, Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla personally accompanied him throughout the long journey, ensuring that the Taiwan delegation successfully completed its mission.
“This arrangement also demonstrates the high importance attached to the friendship between Eswatini and Taiwan,” he said.
Ching-te further stated that although the visit to the kingdom had faced challenges from external forces, Taiwan’s engagement with the world would not be hindered.

He said Taiwan would continue to move forward with a steady and responsible approach, demonstrating resilience in the international community.
He also thanked the ministry of foreign affairs, diplomatic missions, the accompanying delegation, and colleagues in Taiwan for their hard work.
He emphasised that diplomatic efforts were built on professionalism and teamwork.
“Every detail, coordination and communication is a concrete action to protect national sovereignty and interests, while expanding Taiwan’s ties with the world,” he said.
He added that Taiwan has both the right and the ability to engage globally and contribute meaningfully.
In light of evolving international dynamics, he said the ministry of foreign affairs would continue strengthening cooperation with allies and like-minded countries, showcasing Taiwan’s commitment to freedom and democracy, while contributing through its strengths in science, technology, healthcare, agriculture and education.
Meanwhile, the Taiwan Embassy in Eswatini confirmed that President Lai had successfully concluded his State visit.
“President Lai Ching-te has safely returned to Taiwan following a warm and meaningful State visit to Eswatini. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to His Majesty, government and Emaswati for their genuine warmth and steadfast support,” said the embassy.
The embassy noted that despite the geographical distance between the two nations, their bond of friendship and trust remains strong.
It also extended special appreciation to Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla for accompanying the delegation throughout the journey and ensuring a smooth and successful visit.
