MINISTER of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), Savannah Maziya, has commended MTN Eswatini for its continued efforts in making data services more accessible and affordable, particularly for young people and students who depend on digital platforms for education, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Maziya described the initiative as a bold step towardS customer empowerment, digital inclusion and youth centred innovation. She expressed gratitude on behalf of government for MTN’s role in advancing Eswatini’s digital transformation agenda.

“When we bridge the digital divide in our universities and communities, we unlock the future of this nation, Fak’ivibe campaign and the revamped Lula Combos reflect a refreshing commitment to youth empowerment and customer-centric innovation,” she said.

The minister highlighted that the campaign aligned strongly with the ministry’s national digitisation plan, which seeks to ensure that no Liswati is left behind in accessing technology, connectivity and digital opportunities.
Maziya further praised MTN’s investment in community-based programmes such as Y’ello Care and the empowerment of small businesses through trade partnerships, noting that such initiatives demonstrated the company’s understanding of the social role of technology. She encouraged continued collaboration between government and private sector players, especially in rural connectivity, digital skills development and expanding ICT resources in schools and tertiary institutions.

“Connectivity is a service that every Liswati deserves, despite their demographic location. It is a catalyst for education, entrepreneurship, and social inclusion,” she emphasised.
Maziya called on other ICT industry stakeholders to follow MTN’s example by prioritising customer needs and bringing real value to citizens through innovation and service excellence. Turning to MTN staff, she urged them to sustain the energy and purpose behind the Fak’ivibe launch.“To the MTN team, continue to carry this Fak’ivibe energy into every customer interaction. Let it drive service excellence, innovation and pride in the work you do,” she said.

Maziya reaffirmed government’s commitment to broadening digital access and applauded MTN for contributing to Eswatini’s technological advancement. “When we empower our youth, we empower our future. When we promote digital inclusion, we strengthen our nation. Congratulations, MTN and thank you for your contribution to Eswatini’s digital progress,” Maziya said.
