His Majesty’s Correctional Services is celebrating the 17th Correctional Services Day, a momentous occasion as they commemorate 30 years since His Majesty King Mswati III transformed the prison system into a beacon of rehabilitation and hope in 1995.
This milestone is more than a celebration, but a powerful reminder of the commitment to fostering rehabilitation, reintegration and second chances for all.
Officers, partners and the community have come together to honour this legacy and look toward a future of positive change.
Officials from the correctional services displayed various drills before Their Majesties, demonstrating passion and resilience.
The event was also attended by other dignitaries, including members of the Royal Family, Cabinet, Members of Parliament, Members of the Diplomatic Corps and Emabandla, amongst others.
Another highlight of the day was the apology by imprisoned former Ngwempisi MP Mthandeni Dube, who extended an apology to His Majesty.
The apology was conveyed by Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Prince, who said Dube was remorseful for his past actions and had also requested him to be his Lincusa (go-between) upon his eventual release from prison.
Dube, together with fellow MP Mduduzi Mabuza, was arrested in July 2021 during the height of pro-democracy protests. The two were later convicted of terrorism, sedition, and murder charges.
