Maputo, Mozambique – The Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) officially launched its 2025 Upcoming Events Calendar yesterday at the Cardoso Hotel in Maputo, Mozambique. The event gathered tourism officials, tour operators, bikers, and media, signaling Eswatini’s readiness for the peak tourism season starting in August.

Ambassador for the Kingdom of Eswatini, Mlondi Dlamini, emphasized the importance of the Eswatini-Mpumalanga-Mozambique Tri-Land Agreement as a strategic investment in regional cooperation and tourism growth.

“This activation of the Eswatini Events Calendar and advancement of the Tri-Land initiative are not just diplomatic formalities. They are strategic investments in our shared future,” said Dlamini.
Key 2025 Events to Attract Regional and International Tourists
The calendar highlights signature events such as:
– Umhlanga Reed Dance
– International Trade Fair
– Imbube Marathon
– Swazi Rally
– Kings Golf Cup Tournament
– Mlawula Campfire Festival
– Farmer’s Market
– Hipnotik Festival
The ETA expects a significant influx of tourists for these major events, traditionally supported by local and international visitors.
Tourism Statistics Show Regional Visitors Drive Growth
Recent ETA data highlights that South Africa and Mozambique account for the majority of Eswatini’s international arrivals. During the December 2024 festive season, these countries contributed over 93% of visitors, a trend continuing through mid-2025 with over 80,000 visitors from these neighbors.
Hipnotik Festival to Draw 10,000 Young People
The Hipnotik Festival, a flagship Southern African hip-hop and cultural event, anticipates an unprecedented 10,000 attendees based on early ticket sales. Founder Sakhile Nkambule described the festival as a major cultural movement resonating beyond Eswatini’s borders.
“This festival is more than just an event; it’s a major hip-hop and cultural movement that resonates live across the country, Africa, and beyond,” said Nkambule.
The festival, returning on 4 October, will include an exclusive VIP pre-party offering networking opportunities for artists, managers, and agents globally.

Swazi Rally and Other Highlights
Carlos Paiva discussed the Swazi Rally at Riders Ranch, Sidvokodvo, which celebrates its 32nd year and attracts 8,000 to 10,000 bikers annually. Scheduled for 29–31 August, the rally features a competition for a motorbike valued at E330,000 and a lucky draw for youth attendees.
Paiva also spotlighted Sibebe Rock, the world’s second largest monolith, encouraging tourists to explore this natural wonder and enjoy locally brewed Sibebe beer.
