Eswatini Bank’s innovative digital wallet ShareSha has modernised financial transactions across the country, facilitating over E135 million of transactional values in just one year.
The E135 million transacted through ShareSha comprises a wide range of essential services, including airtime top-ups, bill payments and cash transfers.

This was shared by Eswatini Bank Managing Director Nozizwe Mulela, who emphasised the profound meaning behind these figures.
“The E135 million transacted through ShareSha in just one year is more than a number but proof that when you give people the right tools, they can take control of their financial lives. “This is the future of banking. It is inclusive, digital and driven by the needs of the everyday Liswati,” she said.

Mulela highlighted that ShareSha was designed with the everyday Liswati in mind, enabling a mother to pay for electricity at night, a student to buy data or a farmer in a remote area to pay school fees for his children.

Meanwhile, for users like Nelisiwe Dlamini, a fruit vendor in Mbabane, ShareSha has transformed daily financial interactions.
“I used to send money to my mother at Mankayane through kombi drivers or neighbours. Now I just press a few buttons on my phone and she gets the money immediately and can withdraw it with the nearest ShareSha agent,” said Dlamini.

ShareSha’s widespread adoption is largely due to its accessibility. Users can access the platform through the Nomakuphi App or by dialling *656#, making it available on virtually any phone. Crucially, ShareSha does not require users to have a traditional bank account and is open to both Eswatini Bank and non-bank customers, fostering true financial inclusion.

Beyond the digital wallet, Eswatini Bank has also introduced ShareSha Banking, extending transactional capabilities to agent locations nationwide.
The platform’s growth has been outstanding, increasing from an initial E50 million in transactions within its first few months to now exceeding E135 million.

Just last year, the innovative digital wallet, was recognised with the Financial Inclusive and Innovative Product Award under the Banking Category at the recent Fintech Summit hosted by Digimage.
This prestigious award highlighted the bank’s successful embrace of the digital era and its commitment to enhancing financial accessibility in Eswatini.

EswatiniBank Managing Director Nozizwe Mulela expressed her delight, stating that the award signified the bank’s full integration into the digital landscape.
