Eswatini Air has provided further context regarding the flight disruptions experienced since Sunday, August 3, stating that the safety and security of passengers and crew remain their foremost and non-negotiable priority.

According to a statement released by the company, the disruptions were a result of two concurrent events, the first being their fleet currently operating at reduced capacity, as one of their Embraer ERJ145 aircraft was undergoing a scheduled and mandatory heavy maintenance inspection (commonly referred to as a “C-Check”).

The company said this proactive and internationally regulated procedure was critical to ensuring the long-term airworthiness and safety of the aircraft.

Secondly, the company highlighted that, as communicated on August 3, their operating aircraft experienced a technical issue on Sunday.

“In line with our strict safety-first policy, our engineering team made the decision to ground the aircraft for a thorough inspection. While the issue was initially assessed as minor, our commitment to the highest possible safety standards led to a cautious and comprehensive resolution process.

“This, unfortunately, resulted in delays as we prioritised complete assurance over expediency,” said the company.

Eswatini Air further stated that during this period, the company ensured that all affected passengers were provided with accommodation and meals.

“We also secured a replacement aircraft on a lease basis to restore operations and honour our commitments to customers” reads the statement.

The company further assured the public that these operational challenges were being addressed at the highest levels.

“Eswatini Air’s management is fully committed to implementing robust, forward-looking solutions to enhance service reliability. Every decision made during this period was guided by an unwavering focus on passenger safety,” adds the statement.

“We apologise to all our valued customers who were inconvenienced by these disruptions and fully understand the frustration caused by delays and cancellations.

“We also thank our passengers for their continued patience and understanding as we complete this essential maintenance and continue investing in the long-term safety and resilience of Eswatini Air,” reads the statement.
