A cash prize of E20 000 will be awarded to the winner of the Eswatini National DJ Competition, officially launched at the 23:28 Lounge in Mbabane.
The competition was introduced by the newly formed Eswatini DJs Association, led by Thamsanqa Matamza Zwane, Thando Ntshangase and DJ Lolo. The initiative seeks to transform the creative industry by identifying new DJ talent across all four regions of Eswatini.

Building a Platform for DJs
Secretary General Manager (SGM) Thando Ntshangase explained that the contest aims to create a professional platform that unites DJs, strengthens their industry standing, and nurtures upcoming talent.
Registration opens on November 1 through the association’s online platforms. Applicants will be required to sign up as members to access the competition portal.
The competition will feature regional eliminations at various entertainment venues, culminating in a grand finale where the E20 000 prize and other rewards will be presented.
Support from the Entertainment Industry
Ntshangase urged entertainment stakeholders, promoters and venue owners to support the project, saying their involvement is vital for the growth of Eswatini’s creative sector.
He also unveiled the Eswatini DJs Association, which will act as a collective voice for DJs, pushing for professionalisation of the craft and providing members with influence in shaping the entertainment industry.
Ntshangase said preparations were underway for registration and encouraged young aspiring DJs to take advantage of the opportunity, stressing that the competition will not only crown a winner but also expose new talent to wider audiences.
Industry Endorsement
The Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) CEO, Stanley Dlamini, welcomed the competition as an important investment in the music industry.
“With a well-developed DJ industry, our local music can be heard on many platforms as DJs are the biggest influencers of music consumption,” he said.
The competition promises to showcase the diverse DJ talent in Eswatini, blending entertainment with professional development and rewarding excellence with a substantial prize.
