Parents of the six pupils involved in same-sex relations have expressed concern and shock over their children’s behaviour.
They said they were shocked when they learned that their children were involved in same-sex relationships. One parent said he was disappointed that such was found to have happened at the school.
In the same breath, this parent whose daughter is doing Form II expressed his wish to have the matter escalated legally.
“My daughter is only 15 years and in Form II, and the person who introduced her to this is 18 years and in Form V. I’m still to deal with the latter legally,” said the aggrieved parent before he was advised against this idea.
Otherwise, he said the six pupils were just a tip of the iceberg and said same-sex relationships involved many more pupils from Dvokolwako High School.
The parent noted that if some of the six pupils had lovers in other schools as far as Nhlangano, it meant that this unbecoming behaviour was spread more than anyone realises.

“May I request that the education officers speak against this behaviour among the rest of the pupils in this school. Lidimoni leli that needs prayer,” he said.
Another parent said he was shocked when he learned that his niece was involved in such behaviour. He described the girl as soft-spoken and that she was known for not being in any relationship, even with a boy.
“She comes home from school on time and has never had a cellphone,” said the parent.
Another parent added that they needed to have serious talk with their children in order to address the matter.
“Sebasihlaze kakhulu. My daughter said she saw this on TV.
“I was hurt when she was expelled for behaving badly more so because I had paid for her education in full despite the fact that I am not gainfully employed,” stated the parent who added that she was still hurt.
Nonetheless, the parents apologised profusely for their children’s disappointing behaviour.
They also appealed to the education officers, who were led by REO Dr Nathi Nkambule to allow their children back in class.
Guidance officer assigned to Dvokolwako
A guidance and counselling officer was assigned to engage the six pupils at Dvokolwako High School.
The officer from the Hhohho REO’s office Zodwa Gama was tasked with this assignment with the view to establish their personal issues and further support them in any way possible. The officer will be engaging the learners who have since been told to return to the school by the Hhohho REO Dr Nathi Nkambule. Officer Gama asked for the parents’ support in assisting their children, noting that the process would take some time.
Gama said support would be in the form of not bringing up the matter at home ever again.
