SOCCER – Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo has been left out of the Cameroon squad set to face Eswatini in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier tomorrow in Yaoundé.

According to Cameroonian media reports, Mbeumo’s club teammate goalkeeper André Onana has made the cut and is part of the squad.

One of the biggest headlines from the list is the return of veteran striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The 36-year-old, now playing for New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer, is back in the national team after more than a year’s absence. His consistent performances in the MLS have earned him a recall.

Also included are Georges-Kévin N’Koudou and Loïc Etoga. Etoga has received his first-ever senior call-up, while N’Koudou, who recently joined Saudi second division side Al-Diraiyah FC, returns to the national set-up.

The experienced core remains intact, with the likes of André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Carlos Baleba, Michael Ngadeu, Christian Bassogog, Frank Magri, Martin Hongla, and Onana all named.

Despite being without a club since May, captain Vincent Aboubakar has also been retained. Another notable inclusion is Aboubakar Nagida.

Announcing the squad, head coach Marc Brys said he was confident in the players selected.

“Many of the players are in top form, and most are well-versed in international competitions,” Brys told reporters in Yaoundé.

The Indomitable Lions’ preparations are already underway, with 14 players having checked in at the Hilton Hotel on Monday. The remaining members were expected to arrive by yesterday, leaving the team with just one full day to prepare for their clash against Eswatini.
