Engweni is situated within Hlane Royal National Park. The total distance covered by Libutfo before reaching the final destination was 13km.

Yesterday marked the 10th day of the ceremony. The day begun with Libutfo assuming their positions in umkhumbi formation at the arena.

The king gestures after commissioning Libutfo for hunting.

This was followed by singing and dancing to Butimba songs where the king, accompanied by Bayeskhulu, joined Libutfo.

His Majesty instructed Libutfo that no transport would be provided for the return journey as they were expected to march back after the hunt.

Along the journey, Libutfo only had one opportunity to take a breather.

There was never a dull moment though as the Libutfo maintained perfect formation and pace until they reached the final destination. On arrival at Engweni, the king issued instructions through Indvuna Qomentanyeni Magagula that Libutfo should have their refreshments while those with guns collected them from the armary.

This was followed by the customary ritual performed by Army Commander Mashikilisane Hulumende Fakudze and fellow warriors before the final hunt was commissioned.

While issuing the final orders before the hunt, Fakudze relayed a special message from the king, who commended Libutfo for their resilience, respect and adhering to orders throughout the ceremony.

The king also informed the warriors that since it was the last day of hunting, all those who had saved their ammunition should be free to exhaust them and return home with plenty meat.

“There is an abundance of wildlife in this location and I do not expect any warrior to come back empty-handed today,” he said.

The king also informed Libutfo that Imbali would be waiting in their numbers in anticipation of game meat; hence they had to ensure that the last hunt was productive.

Today marks the 11th and last day of Butimba where Libutfo is expected to receive orders at Hlane Royal National Park on proceedings for the day.

The king is expected to commission Libutfo to march to Ngabezweni Royal Residence, where they will deliver the spoils of the hunt.
