SOCCER – Speedy Sihlangu Semnikati forward Justice Figuareido says the national team is working tirelessly to restore pride and deliver better results for the nation.
Figuareido shared these sentiments after scoring a brace against Angola in a World Cup Qualifier that looked set to go the nation’s pride’s way, before Angola struck late to force a 2-2 draw at Somhlolo National Stadium on Wednesday.

The Chippa United star admitted that the team was disappointed not to secure all three points but took heart from the overall performance and growing team spirit. He noted that playing on home soil for the first time in seven years gave the squad extra motivation to perform.

“We might not have won the game but there are many positives to build on going into our upcoming fixture. Scoring a brace was one of my proudest moments, especially in front of our home fans. Better days are ahead. This national team means a lot to us because it defines who we are,” said Figuareido.
He added that Sihlangu’s future looked promising with a new generation of talented young players blending well with experienced campaigners.
“We have young players in the team who are ready to take over. Our time will come to step aside, and I must say that the young players are really talented.”
Figuareido also urged supporters to keep rallying behind the team as they prepare for their final World Cup Qualifier against Cape Verde, saying they will be playing for national pride.
“We need to stay united despite the draw against Angola. The players’ spirits are high and we are ready for the next challenge. Leaving the field due to injury was disappointing, but I will hear from the medical team soon on whether I will be fit to play in our next match,” he said.
